Fun for all the family
This summer there is lots to see and do at the Open Air Museum. You can go on an expedition, have fun in the playground and get busy in the Craft Workshop. Listen to the adventurous stories of Anansi the spider in the summer house, take in the delights of the bakery on Zaan Square or marvel at the boatyard. Or why not take a trip on the historic tram and get off at the tram depot? Perhaps you’ll even earn your own tram driver’s certificate!
Who will you bring with you?
Discover the whole museum park!
Wander past the historic buildings and chat with traditional craftspeople, who will be bringing the historic buildings to life throughout the summer holidays. You’ll find all kinds of special buildings at the museum – each with its own fascinating story and interesting history to share.
You’ll discover that people in the past faced problems that were much the same as those we face today. How did they cope with setbacks back then? And how did they celebrate when things went well?

Every day
From milking cows to digging in the vegetable garden
Come and play, dig and learn at our farmyard created specifically for children! Get to know Wiep the Worm, the hero of the soil. In his worm hotel, children will discover how leftover fruit and vegetables are transformed into nutritious compost. Through play, children will learn about the cycle of life and why everything in nature is connected. This will stimulate their curiosity and increase their awareness of sustainability, nutrition and nature. Now more than ever it is essential that the younger generation learns how valuable nature is, and that we need to take good care of it.
