Gifts and leaving a gift in your will
With a gift or legacy you will make a real difference. Such support is essential to help us maintain the museum, implement educational projects, expand the collection and make it accessible.
Through our lively presentations we make history relevant and inspire visitors of all ages. They get to know the stories, traditions, buildings, objects, plants and crops that are characteristic of everyday life in the Netherlands.
You can support the Dutch Open Air Museum in various ways: by making a one-off or regular gift, for example, or by setting up a named fund.
One-off gift
Make a difference with a one-off gift. All contributions are welcome. The Dutch Open Air Museum will benefit from the full amount of your gift. If you would like your gift to be allocated to a specific area or project at the museum, please get in touch by e-mailing relaties@openluchtmuseum.nl.
You can make your one-off gift to:
- Stichting Het Nederlands Openluchtmuseum, IBAN: NL 05 RABO 0368 4607 70
- Chamber of Commerce number: 41050671
Thank you very much for your contribution!
Regular gift
You can also choose to make a regular gift. This will enable you to invest in the Dutch Open Air Museum over a longer period.
You can spread your gift over a minimum of five annual instalments. That way you can take full advantage of the tax benefit on your gift. For a regular gift to be tax deductible a minimum amount of € 250 per year applies.
If you would like to know what the tax benefit of your proposed gift is, you can calculate it here.
To qualify for the tax benefit, you will need a donation agreement with the Dutch Open Air Museum. You can use our ‘regular gift’ form for this purpose.
Named fund
Are you looking for a personal way to support the Dutch Open Air Museum and would you like to have a greater say in how your gift is spent? By opting for a Named Fund, you can choose the purpose and name of your fund yourself. You can set up a Named Fund during your lifetime, as a legacy, or in memory of someone who loved history. It is also possible to donate to an existing fund.
Do you have a passion for educational projects, for a particular craft or for research, for example? A Named Fund allows you to specify what your financial gift to the Dutch Open Air Museum is spent on.
You can set up a Named Fund starting from € 10,000 per year and a duration of five years. We will take care of the financial administration and make sure your money is spent wisely. You will be invited to special events and we will update you personally on any developments.
Leaving a gift in your will
It is possible to earmark these funds for a pre-agreed specific project or purpose. You can discuss all your wishes with your notary and we will also be happy to tell you about the various options available.
Thanks to the Dutch Open Air Museum’s status as a public-benefit organisation (ANBI), the museum is exempt from inheritance tax and we will benefit from the full amount of your legacy.
Tax benefit
The Dutch Open Air Museum is a cultural public-benefit organisation (ANBI) and is therefore not required to pay gift or inheritance tax. That means the museum benefits from the full amount of each gift.
Our ANBI status also has a tax benefit for the giver: you may be able to get a portion of your gift refunded from the Tax and Customs Administration.
For more information about the tax options available, please visit the website of the Tax and Customs Administration.
