Green Key
The Dutch Open Air Museum participates in the Green Key programme.
This is an international quality mark for sustainable businesses in the tourism and leisure industry. It indicates that we are doing all we can to minimise our organisation’s impact on nature and the environment. We are therefore going a step further than we are required to by law.
The Green Key certificate has three different levels: bronze, silver and gold. The more environmental measures are taken, the higher the level of sustainability. We are proud to have achieved Green Key Gold level. The Dutch Open Air Museum has held this international quality mark since 2010.
In practice
During your visit to our museum we naturally do not expect you to be thinking constantly about nature and the environment. We have therefore taken measures that are virtually invisible, but nevertheless have a significant impact. We separate waste, use water-saving taps and make sure that lights are not on when they are not needed.
But that’s not all. We also use energy-saving lighting and encourage the use of public transport, for example.
Without noticing, you are therefore doing your bit to protect nature and the environment, while enjoying an unforgettable day at the museum.
Green Key is part of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). This is a global organisation with members in over sixty countries.
