Manor
Take a look at Squire Reinhart van Aeswijn’s farmhouse. It is such an imposing building, you might even mistake it for a castle! The grand façade reflects the great prosperity in the new polder of Hoekse Waard. Instead of being built like a typical farmhouse façade, it used construction methods and incorporated decorations that at that time were mainly used in cities. The impressive building at the front of the farmhouse was added in 1617 as an extension of an older and much more modest farmhouse. This manor, which is now used as an event venue, allows you to experience for a moment what it was like to be a squire in the 17th century.
Imagine you are inside a castle
The manor’s large room is ideal for a dinner, party or anniversary reception on a grand scale. It is also the perfect location for a presentation or conference. The manor has capacity for up to 350 people.
Meeting on forbidden territory?
Besides the general room, the manor also offers a number of small meeting rooms. In days gone by the squire used to lease out this farmhouse. The tenant was allowed everywhere, except for the landlord’s quarters on the upper floor. These rooms had to remain at the disposal of the squire, in case he wished to go hunting for example. Fortunately, they are no longer forbidden territory today and both the Best Room and Landlord’s Room make ideal meeting rooms for up to 30 people or as extra locations in addition to the general room in the Flax Barn.
