Café Budel
In the early 19th century the ‘best room’ in many Brabant farmhouses was a place where men from the local area would gather, at least on Saturdays, after they had received their weekly wages, and on Sundays after church. They would come to enjoy a glass of top-fermented beer, a chat and perhaps even some (under-the-counter) spirits too. At that time women and children were often not welcome to join the men, but fortunately that has changed since Café Budel was relocated to the Open Air Museum. Here you can experience the conviviality typical of the Brabant region!
