New: The Craft Workshop
learn traditional techniques
Making an object yourself is not something you learn from a book. This is a special form of knowledge that you can only pick up from practical experience. Craftspeople pass on their knowledge in this way from generation to generation. The better you are able to do something, the easier it is to see how it could be done differently. This is the innovative strength of craft.
In our new Craft Workshop you can try your hand at crafts yourself!

What part do you play?
Our new exhibition Dutch East India Company mentality explores the difference between these two ways of living, through the work of Moluccan artist Dominique Latoel and in other ways. We live in a world that is all about making profits, creating demand and helping ourselves to the earth’s resources. In other words, we are following the Dutch East India Company (VOC) mentality. But what if there was a different way of doing things?
