Apiary Open House
July 11 & 12, 2026
Discover the world of bees
During the National Open Beekeeping Days, step into the world of bees at the Dutch Open Air Museum. At the apiary (location number 4.5) in the Dutch Open Air Museum, our beekeepers will show you how these hard workers live and why they are so important to nature.
What’s there to see and do?
Bees in action
Wearing a protective veil, you’ll come face to face with the bees. Discover how they live in different hives, baskets, and even in a hollow tree trunk. Our beekeepers are on hand to tell you more about the life of bees and will be happy to answer all your questions.
Protect the hive
Roll up your sleeves and help maintain a beehive by applying a protective layer of cow manure.
Extracting and tasting honey
Work together like a real bee colony and help extract the honey. As a reward, you’ll get to taste this delicious, sweet harvest.
Come see, learn, and try it yourself!
