Exhibition: Living with a disability.
Every day
It's about who I am, not what I look like
In 2019 the Dutch Open Air Museum received a legacy consisting of furniture and other items belonging to Mary Tebbens. The story of Mary's life and her belongings is important. It helps us understand more about people living with a disability.
Approximately two million people in the Netherlands have a disability. They may be blind or use a wheelchair, for example, or they may have mental health problems. People with disabilities sometimes encounter obstacles as they go about their lives. In this exhibition you’ll see that people make the world inaccessible, not a person’s disability.
