Visit the bakery
Bundles of sticks to fire the oven.
Inside a grand 17th-century residence from the Zaan region you will find the bakery. Here, the museum baker feeds his oven as it used to be done with bundles of sticks, and bakes delicious bread and cakes in the old-fashioned way. You can see the baker at work in the bakery, where you can also buy delicious things to eat!
Residence from the Zaan region
It is not only the baker himself who you should make the effort to see. The premises he works in are also well worth a look. The external walls, for example, have been finished with weatherboarding: overlapping planks that stop the rain from getting in. The decorative upper part of the façade dates from around 1835.
