The Canon of Dutch History
The Canon of Dutch History is made up of 50 people, creations and events that have played a key role in the history of the Netherlands. Ten enormous ‘film sets’ give you the chance to see, hear and feel the highs and lows from different eras of Dutch history.
The leaves have fallen from the trees and the weather is turning colder: winter is just around the corner. From 9 December to 21 January visitors to the Open Air Museum can experience winter as it was in days gone by! Find out what the Open Air Museum has to offer, inside and outside, during this colourful season. Have fun gliding around our skating rink, stack wood during the Landleven Winter (Winter Country Life) event, discover the Canon of Dutch History and keep the cold at bay with a warming mug of hot chocolate and delicious pancakes.
Before you know it you’ll find yourself in the shoes of a notorious smuggler. Or you’ll have to decide whether to help a fleeing soldier... (Games are in Dutch.)
The Open Air Museum’s collection comprises around 152,000 objects, including carts, household textiles, regional costumes and toys.
