Vind je weg in het museum
Van 9 december t/m 21 januari beleef je een echte historische winter in het Openluchtmuseum! Op deze winterplattegrond zijn de geopende gebouwen oranje gemarkeerd. Loop tijdens de winter de verlichte route door het sfeervolle museumpark.
In the park at the Holland Open Air Museum there are all kinds of historic buildings, farmhouses and mills to admire – inside and out. These bring you closer to history and give you the chance to experience what life was like in days gone by.
It was not only women and girls who wore decorations when dressed in regional costume; men and boys also embellished their costumes with decorative additions. Some of these, such as buttons and shoe buckles, were originally functional items.
As early as the Middle Ages parents made toys for their children, such as balls, diabolos, yoyos, whistles and marbles. The period of time that children had to play was not long at all.
The photographer Adriaan Gerard van Agtmaal (1887-1960) is mainly known for his photos of monuments, city and village scenes, landscapes and rural life. His work featured on postcards and promotional material for the Dutch Tourist Information Office.
