Wood shedThis store from Haarlem was built in 1872 in the yard of the Peltenburg company - a timberyard and shipbuilder's - situated near to the Zomervaart canal. The company's timber supplies were stored under the building, and full-scale drawings of various ship components were made in the attic. Model ships were also fixed to the wall - these served as examples for customers. The shipbuilding activity ceased in 1918 and from then on the attic was also used for storing wood. As a result, the joisting of the attic had to be strengthened. Due to its inconvenient position, the store fell into disuse from the 1960s onwards. The reconstruction of the building at the museum was completed in 1973. Back to overview of buildings |
