Boatyard
A lot of hard work goes on in the boatyard. The boat that you can see on the lake, for example, was built here. Next to the boatyard is a little wooden boat on a rope which you can use to pull yourself over to the other side of the lake.
This boatyard was situated on a small island in the middle of Marken harbour. The level of the floor is particularly high to ensure that it was not flooded during high water. The boatyard was reached via a long footbridge. It was a repair yard, rather than a boat building yard. Boats were hauled up the slipway using the capstan.
