Bee exhibition
This is where the museum keeps bees. You will find a presentation about bees in the exhibition area. The specially laid out garden, in which plants are in flower throughout the bee season, provides the bees with a permanent source of nectar.
In the days when sugar was still too expensive, honey made an excellent sweetener. In addition, beeswax could be used to make candles and furniture polish. Bee-keeping was usually a sideline activity for farmers. In the early days of bee-keeping, it was necessary to kill the entire population of the hive to allow the bee-keeper to harvest the honey. Later, removable frames were developed so that this was no longer necessary.
