Flemish barn

In the 18th and 19th centuries this farmhouse and Flemish barn formed part of a mixed farm in Etten-Leur in the province of North Brabant. After 1873 the farmhouse was let to farm labourers and a gardener, who each used a part of the living quarters and working areas of the farm. In around 1900 there were 22 people living in the farmhouse. There was a bakehouse close by in which they baked bread. Agricultural products were stored in the barn. It is called a Flemish barn as such barns are commonly found in Flanders. Here the farmhouse and barn are used for educational
purposes: they host the Children’s activity farmyard and Smallholders project. Back to overview of buildings
